Commercial Manager – Shell Egg

Salary: Competitive

Location: Lacock, Wiltshire

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours

Stonegate Farmers Ltd currently have an exciting opening for Commercial Manager to join our Head Office based out of Lacock, Wiltshire. In this high-impact role, you will develop and execute commercial strategies to enhance brand visibility, increase market share, and boost profitability across our retail channels. By leveraging your expertise in market trends, customer insights, and competitor analysis, you will make strategic decisions that align with business objectives.

Stonegate Farmers Ltd is an integrated free range and organic egg business organised across three divisions comprising farming and agriculture, egg packing and cooked egg processing. Established in 1926 and under new ownership since 2016, we have grown into one the largest free-range and organic egg producers within the UK. The business has been transformed through new investment and has advanced its competitive position within the sector with significant expansion in its core market and recently entered the chilled products market with new processing technologies.

A key distributor for leading premium egg brand Clarence Court, Stonegate Farmers boasts a customer base comprising of major mainstream food retailers, food service outlets and distributors.

The business is looking to continue to build on existing strong retailer relationships, enhance its strong branded reputation with further innovative egg branding, optimise on egg packing performance and extend customer and product development across both it’s Shell Egg and Egg Innovation divisions.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a customer-centric experience in line with the shell egg strategy, collaborating with major UK supermarket retailers on both branded and own-brand products.

  • Build strong relationships with customers and internal teams to achieve shared objectives.

  • Proactively identify new business opportunities within the customer base.

  • Drive sustainable and profitable growth across assigned accounts.

  • Ensure commercial negotiations align with strategic business objectives.

  • Balance customer requirements with business needs to maximise the relationship for both parties, including planning and coordinating price increases.

  • Implement new and seasonal product launches at the customer level.

  • Enhance the visibility and availability of Stonegate products within designated accounts.

  • Manage and develop the sales team.

  • Collaborate with other departments (Operations, Technical, HR, etc.) to ensure compliance with ESG, ethical standards, and Customer Code of Practice obligations.

  • A confident and established leader

  • Strong interpersonal and commercial skills

  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence internal and external stakeholders in order achieve common goals.

  • High commercial acumen and numerical ability

  • Excellent organisation

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office

    Qualifications / Experience:

  • Extensive, dedicated commercial experience within own label and branded food manufacturing.

  • Significant and demonstrable experience of managing major retailer relationships

  • Able to make lead persuasive negotiations with data and influencing skills

  • Relevant qualification or experience within Commercial roles

  • Experience of relationship building and delivery of presentations
