We have a great opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to our Energy Solutions business.


Equans Energy Solutions is a market leading engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor focussed on the energy transition. As a Senior Electrical Engineer within this team you will play a key role in the end-to-end delivery of our projects by providing electrical technical leadership during engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning. Your focus will be on BESS, electrolytic hydrogen and PV projects with the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the UKs decarbonisation efforts.

Key activities

As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for electrical engineering and design on our BESS, PV and Hydrogen projects as well as technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

Lead the electrical system design for energy projects, including HV/LV distribution systems, protection schemes, and control systems


Develop single-line diagrams, protection coordination studies, and detailed design drawings
Perform power system studies including load flow, fault current, and stability analysis
Prepare, review and approve electrical equipment specifications and vendor documentation
Ensure compliance with UK grid codes, G99, and relevant standards
Prepare detailed technical specifications for major electrical equipment including transformers, power conversion systems, protection relays, and control systems
Support with the development of tender packages and scope of work documents for electrical contractors
Lead technical bid evaluations and contractor selection process
Conduct site inspections to promote our Safety-First culture and ensure quality of installation
Act as Electrically Authorised Person (EAP) and support training of other EAPs
Review and respond to technical queries and contractor RFIs
Review and approve as-built documentation
Develop detailed commissioning specifications and acceptance criteria
Oversee pre-commissioning checks and testing activities

Skills, qualifications & experience

Education:

BEng/MEng in Electrical Engineering or related field


Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred
Authorised person HV | LV qualification or similar preferred

Experience:

Solid experience in electrical system design


Demonstrable experience with BESS &/or hydrogen (both preferred)
Strong background in HV systems (11kV-kV) design and protection
Proven track record in managing subcontractors and reviewing deliverables
Experience with UK grid compliance and connection requirements
Experience in equipment factory testing and inspection
Understanding of commissioning protocols for HV/LV systems

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in power system analysis software


Strong knowledge of electrical CAD software
Understanding of IEC and relevant communication protocols
Experience with protection relay coordination
Familiarity with energy management systems and grid services
