Job Description
Role: Contact Supervisor
Location: Harrow Civic Centre, Station Road, Harrow HA1 2XY and other children centres within the borough
Employer: Pertemps Recruitment Partnership (on behalf of the London Borough of Harrow)
Contract: Temporary ongoing
Hours: Flexible, working pattern between 10:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work as required. Hours will vary in line with service needs.
Rate: £18.22 per hour PAYE

Pertemps Recruitment Partnership is seeking compassionate, observant, and dependable Contact Supervisors to join the Children's Safeguarding, Family Placement & Support Service at Harrow Council. This role plays a vital part in supporting children and families by supervising contact sessions between children and their parents, ensuring safety and wellbeing at all times, and providing professional observations to inform care planning and safeguarding decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise contact sessions between children, parents, and siblings in accordance with agreed contact plans.
  • Ensure each session is conducted safely, professionally, and always in the best interests of the child.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow safeguarding and child protection procedures when necessary.
  • Intervene appropriately if behaviour becomes unsafe or inappropriate to safeguard children.
  • Communicate promptly with the Team Manager or Contact Coordinator regarding incidents or concerns.
     

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS check required (to be completed prior to start).
  • Experience working directly with children and families, ideally within a social care or safeguarding setting.
  • Knowledge of child development, safeguarding principles, and family support practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce accurate, objective reports.
  • Confident in managing challenging behaviour and sensitive situations.
  • Competent IT and record-keeping skills.
  • A relevant childcare qualification (e.g., NNEB, GNVQ, or equivalent) is desirable
