Due to the expansion of our service operating 7 days between the hours of 08:00 to 20:00, we are looking for Band 7 HCPC registered CT Radiographers to join our growing CT team with in the general imaging department at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.


Key working relationships will be with the Imaging Head of Radiography, CT Lead Radiographer, Radiologists, CT & rotational radiographers, imaging assistants and other clinical and professional staff.


The post-holder will participate in the effective and safe running of the CT department and will be able to perform a wide range of specialist CT scans in the extended hours 7-day service. The post holder will offer supervision/line management to band 6 radiographers, imaging assistants, students, and visitors to the CT department. The post holder will ensure patient flow in the trust by actively managing the flow of outpatients and in-patients. Furthermore, they will be expected to engage in prompt protocolling, checking of conditional devices, liaison with radiologists and other clinicians to actively unblock barriers to scanning. The post holder will be key in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and experience and will be enabled to deal with and diffuse potential complaints to the patient and carers' satisfaction.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a specialist diagnostic practitioner in CT and be responsible for a variable caseload of patients including Cardiac and General CT. Patients will present with a full range of complex conditions and the post holder will be responsible for carrying out the appropriate diagnostic procedures to support the diagnosis of complex conditions.


The post holder will supervise, support and assist students and junior radiographers in service delivery and personal development.


To organise and oversee the training of radiographers and students in all aspects of CT scanning, including comprehensive competency assessments.


In conjunction with the CT Managers, promote continuous improvements in service delivery and quality within all areas of the CT service, using modern methods to improve productivity, leading in the delivery of service and workforce transformation, and re-design.


The Post-holder will manage the work of staff in the department and develop a culture in which members of staff are continuously improving the delivery of high quality services. The post-holder will ensure the development and acceptance of challenging but realistic objectives for staff and through leadership, motivation and systematic performance management, achieve the required results.

Essential criteria

BSc Radiography or DCR


State Registration
Some formal management training
IV cannulations- or willingness to achieve this skill in house.

Desirable criteria

Radiation Protection Supervisor experience


CT Colon training- in house or externally
Post Graduate qualification in CT (or working towards this)

Experience

Essential criteria

NHS CT experience


Extensive experience as a radiographer performing a wide range of CT.
Experience of current, and awareness of developing trends in CT service.
Wide experience of CT scanning equipment and techniques.
Experience in training of other staff or students
Day to day operational management
Participation in Quality Assurance/Clinical Governance initiatives.
Some personnel management

Desirable criteria

Current experience of research and audit.


Experience of post graduate teaching
To have been involved in implementing change to a service/department

Knowledge

Essential criteria

Knowledge of Booking and capacity planning


Portfolio of evidence of continuing professional development
Some knowledge of wider NHS Issues
