Equans is looking for a Facilities Manager to join our team in Birmingham on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

The purpose of the role is to ensure the security, care and availability of the education premises its furniture, fittings and equipment, and mechanical and electrical assets. To ensure the physical environment of the premises is satisfactory for users; and to promote the efficient use of the Councils assets to support the educational objectives of the establishment and the activities of other site users.


The post holder will assist the Account Manager and provide line management to the site team to ensure standards of cleanliness, compliance and site cohesiveness.


What will you deliver?

Line manage all Premise Officers across the Birmingham Schools BSF portfolio


Assist the Soft Services Operations Manager with total site compliance, collating paperwork ensuring it is accurate, up to date and always audit ready, assisting with remedial works
Carry out weekly statutory PPMs, ensure accurate recording
Review subcontractor RAMS and ensure company procedures are adhered to
Report sickness and absence, manage holiday allowance and ensure site always has adequate cover - ensure management of staff turnover
Be the primary point of contact for Equans on site, providing effective communication with the school clients and ensuring a good relationship is maintained
Ensure all jobs are logged on the helpdesk
Manage the open jobs for your site(s), ensuring timely closure on all helpdesk events, to avoid any financial penalties due to over-running allocated time thresholds
Demonstrate a sound awareness and knowledge of health and safety, ensuring staff and subcontractors are working safely at all times
Carry out monthly Management Safety Visits and ensure all safety observations and near misses are logged on AIMS
Ensure site teams training and Toolbox Talks are up to date
Provide support in emergency situations, such as fire evacuations, operate a fire panel / system
Provide assistance to the Soft Services Operations Manager in provision of site information, e.g. drawings, measurements
Ensure all Authority Damage paperwork is signed and provided to the admin team monthly
To complete monthly reports and submit to the Soft Services Operations Manager on the first working day of each calendar month
Work flexibly, providing occasional overtime and weekend cover for lettings and additional school periods
Attend all meetings, as directed by the Soft Services Operations Manager, with the SPV and Authority

Who are we looking for?

IOSH Managing Safely


Experience ofmanaging direct reports
Experience in an education environment
Good level of knowledge relating to building services compliance
Demonstrate experience and knowledge in safe working practices, including safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
Ability to plan and prioritise own work activities and manage own time efficiently
Ability to handle a varied workload with attention to detail and be able to work on own initiative
Highly motivated and capable of multi-tasking, coupled with a team player attitude
Courteous, helpful and can do attitude
Ability to communicate well at all levels
Reasonable flexibility to meet business needs

This role includes a DBS Enhanced check therefore ability to pass is essential.
