Your new role

Based within the Global Outdoor Operations function, the Head of PMO is responsible for providing Programme Office functions in support of the delivery of the operational and capital transformation projects across the UK Outdoor business.

Ensuring the implementation of consistent PM methodologies, this is a key Programmes role with accountability for supporting project delivery to time, cost and quality objectives; taking responsibility for helping to shape the PMO and the implementation of strategy and governance controls for the approved Programmes.

This role will report to the Director of Programmes with key stakeholders being the Global Outdoor executive, Operations Director, Operational Delivery Team, Chief Operating Officer, Partnerships, Finance and Legal.

Key Responsibilities



Maintain a fully functioning PMO platform and collaboration tool

Provide general support and guidance on programme and project management processes, procedures, software, tools, and techniques.

Develop and provide programme management reporting and tracking of deliverables, progress and performance.

Deliver governance services to relevant boards and meetings

*

Support project gate reviews, providing quality assurance of gate materials in preparation for review and sign off.

*

Undertake risk management and escalate issues, ensuring change control methods and processes are embedded.

*

Integrate new assets into the business and control the flow of programme information to other teams and stakeholders.

*

Support the Partnerships team as required on further new bids and tenders.

*

Build excellent relationships with key internal clients with clear communication and effective escalation channels.

Oversee project costs and support the project teams to deliver financial controls

*

Develop additional PMO tracking improvements to assist in managing more detailed aspects of the overall project performance and deliverables.

Identify and maintain dependencies within programme/project schedules.

What Success Looks Like

In the first few months, you would have

- Gained a solid understanding of all the programmes and Projects within the Operations function and wider Outdoor division.

- Engaged with all key stakeholders

- Fully understood the programmes and scope of deliverables and the key dependencies and business objectives.

- Developed the initial PMO requirements and commenced reporting into key governance forums.

- Developed ideas and created a roadmap for the introduction of specific systems and platforms which enable the successful operation of the PMO

What You’ll Need

- 3+ years experience of working within major capital or operational business programmes and the PMO environment

- Experience of working with Programme Management Office platforms

- A good practical knowledge of project management practices and ideally be certified/qualified at a practitioner level – Prince2 or equivalent

- Evidenced management of direct reports – providing challenging and stretching targets and assignments to direct reports

- Energetic, determined, positive, goal focussed and consistent - even under pressure.

- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and verbal/ written communication skills.

- Proficiency in Project, Visio, and all standard MS Office programs.

- Experience in supporting bids and tenders.

- Exposure to governance and risk management.

- Focussed on outcomes and deliver with energy and determination.

- Ability to Inspire others to create an environment where change is sustained.

- Demonstrate the ability to engage and communicate persuasively with a broad range of stakeholders, up to and including board level.

- Highly organised, self-driven and confident in challenging under performance

- High attention to detail

- Ability to keep it simple, cutting through complexity and seeking optimal solutions to problems and opportunities.

- Comfortable operating in fast paced, highly commercial and matrix environments.

- Ability to review situations from a number of different perspectives.

- Skilled at motivating teams and individuals to deliver and go the extra mile.

- Very resilient with people and challenging situations.
