INDEPENDENT CHAIR - EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

The East Riding Safeguarding Adults Board (SAB) is seeking an Independent Chair to lead the local safeguarding arrangements in new and innovative ways, ensuring robust and effective challenge of all partners. The role will include collaboration with other local partnerships and the regional and national adult safeguarding networks to have maximum impact.

Applicants are welcome from any professional background including health, local government, voluntary sector and police. Our emphasis is on strategic and systems leadership along with excellent chairing skills. We are looking for an Independent Chair who has all the relevant skills and qualities to drive the board forward and ensure delivery of the three- year strategy.

We are looking for someone with demonstrable strategic experience who can help us to embed partnership working at all levels, someone who promotes collaborative working who will co-ordinate partners to hold each other to account, and who has the judgement and skill to work with, and build relationships with the most senior system leaders to drive the adult safeguarding agenda. A key component will be constructive challenge which is impactful.

Applicants should be experienced and knowledgeable in strategic leadership across partners and will possess the ability to lead, influence and motivate others. The successful candidate will be strategic and clear thinking, able to negotiate, support partners to constructively challenge each other to deliver high-quality adult safeguarding work across the partnership. 

This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to make a real difference to the residents of the East Riding of Yorkshire.

The role requires 2 days per month with a commitment to be flexible if significant tasks arise. The rate of pay is £550.00 per day. The contract is for a 3-year period, with the option of an additional year.

This appointment is a contract for services in which IR35 Regulations apply.

Appointment Process

The appointment process will be in 2 phases:

Phase 1 - tender/expression of interest submitted with responses to screening questions. Phase 2 - those shortlisted from the above will be invited to a partnership panel which will include a presentation and formal interview.
