Orbex are seeking an experienced RF System Design Engineer to join our Avionics Team in Forres, ideally with space or aeronautical segment experience, to work on the development, integration and test of airborne and ground based radio systems for the Orbex Prime launch vehicle. Responsibilities of the role High level RF communication system analysis, development, integration and test Link budget analysis, RF line up analysis and hardware selection Conducting market search to find qualified modules for the system, acting as a responsible engineer for hardware procurement from external suppliers and handling all technical communication Developing test plans and leading unit level and system level electrical and environmental test campaigns Fault diagnosis and problem solving on setup, during environmental tests and system integration Proactively participating in design reviews and initiating design reviews to mitigate risk when appropriate Collaboration with colleagues from different disciplines such as software engineering, mechanical and thermal engineering, systems engineering Qualifications and Experience: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering with a focus on RF/Microwave Engineering Minimum 4 years of work experience on RF circuit/system design, development, integration and testing Hands on experience in fault diagnosis and problem-solving during integration and test In-depth understanding of RF physics, impedance matching, filters and isolation techniques Effectively using related test equipment such as spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, power sensor, oscilloscope, etc. Ability to work efficiently in cooperation with a multidisciplinary team Desirable experience and traits: Antenna design and testing experience EMI/EMC testing experience Space qualification testing experience Proficiency in using EM simulation tools (CST, HFSS) Location – Forres Our roles need to be on-site in Scotland due to the nature of the position, export controls and security.
