Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual passionate about supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

GSL Education are seeking a SEN TA to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Sheffield. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys helping pupils overcome learning and behavioural challenges while supporting their academic and personal growth.

Role Overview:

As an SEN TA, your role involves encouraging confidence, independence, and positive behaviour, fostering a safe and inclusive classroom environment, and monitoring pupil progress to provide feedback that informs ongoing support.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:


  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for pupils with SEN to help them access the curriculum.
  • Assist teachers and SENCOs in implementing individual learning and behaviour plans.
  • Help create a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment that promotes confidence and wellbeing.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff to adapt support as needed.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, encouraging motivation, independence, and resilience.
  • Promote an inclusive classroom culture where all pupils feel valued and respected.


Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant:


  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN or additional learning needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of young learners.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
