Job Description

The Role

Aligned with Fastmarkets' vision of being a customer-centric organization, the Strategic Industry Expert (SIE) is a key commercial role. The role is aimed at developing strong understanding of our largest customers’ strategic priorities, tailoring our solutions to specific customer objectives and ensuring the solution is well adopted.

We are looking for an experienced professional who understands and has worked with exchange data – has a granular understanding of how it’s used across different use-cases and is able to support the growth of our commodity exchange data offerings. You will work closely with our sales & product team to ensure our exchange data offerings are well positioned in front of customers and will lead the external customer engagement to surface our exchange data offerings and develop a tailored solution to customers’ use-cases.

Your responsibilities will span pre-sales (solution design, client engagement, technical validation) and post-sales (implementation support, integration guidance, and ongoing optimization).

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-sales:

  • Identify targeted prospects within our customer base for high relevance exchange data customers
  • Co-lead customer interactions with our sales teams to present exchange data solutions as an expert and address customer needs to specific use-cases
  • Maintain strong relationships with exchange data clients to ensure satisfaction and identify upsell opportunities.
  • Partner with sales and business development teams to understand client requirements and design tailored exchange data solutions.
  • Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to prospective clients.
  • Translate complex data delivery and integration requirements into clear, actionable solution proposals (co-led with sales teams)
  • Act as a subject matter expert on exchange data licensing, entitlements, and delivery mechanisms

Post sales & collaboration:

  • Lead onboarding and implementation of exchange data solutions for new clients.
  • Provide technical support and guidance during integration, ensuring smooth data delivery and compliance with licensing terms.
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, Legal, and Compliance to ensure solutions meet internal standards and external regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development of scalable sales enablement materials to position exchange data solutions with customers at scale.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, driven, and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced, successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.

  • 5-10+ years of experience in LME exchange data – likely but not limited to a junior trading role, exchange operations role or exchange data sales.
  • Commercial acumen to understand relevance and criticality of exchange data offering in specific customer context/organisations
  • Strong understanding of exchange data customer workflows and the application of exchange data is specific use-cases
  • An understanding of exchange data solutions in the market and ability to position our offerings with a differentiated value proposition
  • Excellent communication skills, with proven success in both one-on-one and large group presentations.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills; a true team player with the ability to work effectively across departments – particularly with product teams.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Good to have: Understanding of sales processes for market/data intelligence products, Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and other relevant sales technologies.
