Job Description:
We have a number of exciting opportunities to work at various levels within our structural analysis and simulation function at Leonardo Helicopters.
Working as a Structural Analysis Engineer at our Yeovil site, you will have the pride of seeing your work on our product ranges, grow from a 3D concept through to installation and flight and you will play a part in the continued growth in our capability for the future.
As part of the Structures Team you will be responsible for developing structural design solutions in collaboration with other engineering departments and key stakeholders, for our wide product range encompassing conventional helicopters, tilt rotors and unmanned air systems.
Our analysis team supports both the UK and Italian geographies so although based in the UK there is the opportunity to work on our full product range.
Structural Analysis Engineer
You’ll be responsible for coordination, creation and delivery of varied and challenging static and dynamic analysis & test activities including airworthiness compliance documentation, concurrently engineered with the collaboration of Design/Analysis/Certification & Qualification/Manufacturing.
Working at a more senior level you would be mentoring whilst leading teams of Structural engineers in order to achieve delivery of fit for purpose design solutions.
The ability to own problems and provide pragmatic solutions to challenging timescales and budgets Experience in the analysis of complex engineering structures Knowledge in conventional (hand calculation) and numerical (finite element) techniques for static analysis A working knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance Knowledge of composite materials and analysis principles Experience in using MSC NASTRAN Experience in using Altair HyperMesh
For our senior level positions we would need you to have the following:
Evidence of working in a regulated environment with knowledge of airworthiness regulations e.g. MAA, EASA or FAA. Expert knowledge in conventional (hand calculation) and numerical (finite element) techniques for static analysis Hold a delegated specialist signatory The ability to plan and execute tasks to achieve timescales and costs Experience in working with cross functional teams Experience of assessing repairs for structural strength and impact on fatigue life Experience in leading and mentoring teams of engineers to deliver projects succesfully
Knowledge in the following would be desirable:
Non-linear dynamic solutions such as crash modelling and impact using Abaqus
