A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Building Surveying Leadto join a world-renowned loss adjusting firm, overseeing technical surveying operations within its property claims division. This role will be instrumental in providing technical leadership, managing complex building-related claims, and driving operational excellence across multiple regions.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in building surveying, construction, and property claims, combined with leadership experience in managing teams of surveyors and technical specialists. Key Responsibilities:Technical Leadership & Claims Management

  • Lead and manage a team of building surveyors and technical specialists, ensuring high-quality assessments of property damage claims.
  • Provide technical oversight and expert guidance on complex building-related claims, including structural damage, fire, flood, subsidence, and catastrophic events.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, policy coverage, and loss adjusting best practices.
  • Conduct detailed building surveys, prepare technical reports, and offer expert advice on repair methodologies and reinstatement strategies.

Operational & Team Management

  • Develop and implement best-in-class surveying processes and standards to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
  • Manage the recruitment, training, and professional development of surveying teams, ensuring continuous upskilling and technical excellence.
  • Drive cost control measures and resource allocation, ensuring claims are handled efficiently and within agreed service levels.
  • Oversee the use of technology and digital tools for surveying, including drones, 3D imaging, and remote assessment platforms.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a key point of contact for insurers, brokers, and corporate clients, providing expert advice and ensuring strong working relationships.
  • Support business development initiatives by assisting with client pitches, technical presentations, and service innovation.
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, seminars, and networking events.

Experience & Expertise

  • Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS, MCIOB, or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
  • Proven track record in building pathology, structural assessment, and loss adjusting within the insurance or construction sector.
  • Strong experience handling property damage claims, including commercial, industrial, and high-value residential losses.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to mentor, develop, and manage teams of technical specialists.
  • Knowledge of global building regulations, construction standards, and insurance principles.

Qualifications & Skills

  • MRICS, MCIOB, CII, or equivalent professional accreditation (highly desirable).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to assess damage, determine repair costs, and advise on reinstatement strategies.
  • Excellent communication and client management skills, with experience presenting technical reports and negotiating claim settlements.
  • Proficiency in surveying technology, including CAD software, drone technology, and digital claim assessment tools.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to survey sites, manage teams, and attend client meetings.
