Business Development Executive – Waste & Recycling Services

At Ward, we’re looking for an energetic, commercially-minded Business Development Executive to represent our award-winning waste and recycling brand across Chesterfield & Surrounding Areas.

If you love getting out and about, meeting new people, building lasting relationships, and converting conversations into customers – this is your chance to make a difference in a role with real autonomy, backed by a supportive team.

About the Role

As part of our growing Business Development team, you’ll:

  • Be the face of Ward Recycling in your local patch, identifying and converting new business opportunities

  • Promote our total waste solutions, including specialist compaction services

  • Carry out around 10 quality site visits a day, building trusted relationships with commercial clients

  • Structure your own working week while delivering outstanding results

  • Hold a weekly one-to-one meeting with the Head of Sales (Waste) to review progress and strategy

  • Participate in monthly sales meetings to share best practice and stay aligned with company goals

  • Ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new customers

  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver the best service for your clients

    What You’ll Need

  • Previous experience in sales, business development, or customer-facing B2B roles

  • Confident, bubbly, and persuasive personality – people should love talking to you

  • Strong resilience and tenacity – you’ll thrive on chasing down leads and closing deals

  • Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage your own time effectively

  • Full UK Driving Licence

  • Ideally based in or around Chesterfield, with a good knowledge of the local area
