Role summary:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Construction Project Manager to oversee and manage a diverse range of construction projects from inception to completion on a national scale. The ideal candidate will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards whilst adhering to safety and compliance regulations

Key responsibilities

  • Project Oversight: Manage all aspects of the project from planning through to completion, ensuring accurate and up-to-date project documentation and reports.

  • Problem Solving: Address site issues as they arise, providing feedback to Operations and Senior Managers on effective resolution strategies.

  • Project Reporting: Prepare comprehensive project reports, schedules of work, and progress updates to keep stakeholders informed.

  • Business Case Justifications: Complete and present justifications for project works, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

  • Stakeholder Liaison: Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and contractors to meet project expectations regarding quality, budget, and timelines.

  • Condition Schedules: Undertake photographic schedules of condition as part of DX’s lease obligations.

  • Tender Preparation: Oversee and assist in the preparation of tender and preconstruction documents to ensure value for money.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant construction regulations and company policies throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Contract Management: Monitor the progress of contracts under your control, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.

  • Multi-Project Management: Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously with the support of internal and external teams.

  • Legislation Awareness: Stay updated on current legislation, regulations, and codes of practice relevant to construction.

  • Cost Monitoring: Monitor overall construction costs against the budget whilst escalating risks and variances.

  • Contract Completion: Complete JCT (2016 Minor Works) Contracts and submit Notification of Construction Project Documentation (F10).

  • Planning Consent: Prepare and submit Planning Consent applications to Local Authorities for essential works.

  • Scottish Warrant Applications: Complete and submit Scottish Warrant applications for necessary works.

  • Technical Drawings: Create scaled drawings and floorplans using AutoCAD LT and Magic Plan software.

  • Management Reporting: Provide management information for the completion of monthly board reports.

  • Drone Operations: Obtain a pilot's license to fly drones for accurate schedules of work and condition reports.

    Essential criteria for this role

    Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar commercial environment, demonstrating a strong track record in construction project management.
    Educational: Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field are essential.
    Project Management Skills: Proven ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
    Scheduling Expertise: Experience in producing detailed schedules of works, along with tender and project stage programmes, to facilitate effective project planning and execution.
    Financial Acumen: Strong financial skills with a background in budget control and cost management, ensuring projects remain within financial parameters.
    Fit-Out Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of fit-out processes, materials, and subcontractor management, enabling effective oversight of project execution.
    Regulatory Understanding: A solid understanding of building regulations, health and safety standards, and construction processes to ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
    Leadership and Communication: Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams towards achieving project goals.
    Organisational Skills: Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills, coupled with a drive to excel and foster a high-performance culture within the team.
    Technical Proficiency: Proficient in all Microsoft Office products, CAD, and Construction Management software, facilitating efficient project documentation and reporting.
    Security Clearance: Ability to achieve high-level security and enhanced DBS clearances due to the nature of our client list.
    Driving License: A full UK driving license is required for site visits and project management activities.
