Overview

A cutting-edge organisation operating at the forefront of autonomous vehicle development-across both air and ground platforms-is seeking an experienced Electronics Design Engineer. The company specialises in delivering next-generation, mission-critical technologies to clients within the defence and security sectors. This role is central to developing high-performance electronics systems, with a strong emphasis on PCB design, layout, and schematic capture using Altium Designer. Occasional travel to site is required that will be expensed and free accomadation is available.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and layout of complex PCBs, including multilayer and high-speed digital boards.

Develop and maintain schematic diagrams and component libraries using Altium Designer.

Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and systems engineering teams to ensure robust hardware integration in autonomous platforms.

Support prototyping, assembly, and testing of electronic assemblies in both R&D and production environments.

Perform design-for-manufacture (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) evaluations to ensure product reliability and ease of production.

Assist in EMC compliance and environmental testing preparation and troubleshooting.

Manage electronic design documentation in line with defence industry standards and internal configuration controls.

Required Skills and Experience

Strong experience in PCB design and layout, ideally in both analogue and digital systems.

Proficient with Altium Designer for schematic capture, layout, and library management.

Solid understanding of signal integrity, power distribution, and grounding techniques.

Background in electronics hardware design for embedded systems or real-time control.

Familiarity with military or aerospace standards (e.g., MIL-STD, DO-160, DEF-STAN) is desirable.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, datasheets, and design specifications.

Experience in prototyping, debugging, and fault-finding on PCBs.

Desirable Attributes

Exposure to electronics used in autonomous vehicles or unmanned systems.

Knowledge of RF design, motor control, or power electronics.

Security clearance eligibility (or existing clearance) due to the sensitive nature of projects.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment with high levels of autonomy.

Why Join?

This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge autonomous vehicle technology within a highly secure and innovative environment. You'll be contributing to systems that directly support critical national defence capabilities, while also expanding your skillset in advanced electronics design
