Job Description

Wavenet is looking for an experienced and proactive Credit Controller to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for recovering outstanding payments from our clients, directly contributing to our corporate cash flow and overall growth. As a Credit Controller, you will ensure timely communication with clients in your portfolio, ensuring payments align with agreed trading terms.

Your role will require you to maximise cash collections while accurately reporting information to the wider business. You'll identify trends, recognise potential risks in cash management, and propose effective strategies to mitigate those risks.

Building strong, positive relationships with clients and relevant business contacts is essential to maintaining our company’s values and reputation. As an effective communicator, you will confidently present data to clients and create detailed reports and emails. Your contributions will enhance the company’s cash flow, enabling us to grow our market share.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactive Communication: Reach out to customers by phone to ensure invoices are clear for prompt payment.
  • Debt Collection: Manage and collect commercial debt from key accounts.
  • Point of Contact: Serve as the main contact for complex queries escalated by team members.
  • Ad-Hoc Support: Assist with additional duties within the department as needed.
  • Invoice Processing: Handle customer invoices, payments, and credit notes, adhering to Financial Control Systems deadlines.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Take ownership of invoice queries, engaging with stakeholders to identify and implement solutions.
  • Account Evaluation: Assess accounts for potential debt collection and legal action, escalating issues to the Credit Control Manager as necessary.
  • Risk Advisory: Inform the Credit Control Manager of any potential risks related to client payment defaults.
  • Deputy Role: Step in for the Credit Control Manager when they are unavailable.

Qualifications

  • Credit Control Experience: Proven background in credit control with a focus on accuracy and task prioritisation.
  • Deadline-Driven Communicator: Thrive in fast-paced environments with strong verbal and written skills to resolve queries effectively.
  • IT Proficiency: Experience with Excel, Word, and Outlook; familiarity with Sage 200 is a plus.
  • Relationship Builder and Team Player: Strong skills in fostering customer relationships for debt collection while supporting colleagues collaboratively.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in telecoms or technology is desirable.
  • Calm Under Pressure: Maintain composure and effectiveness while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Positive Attitude: Motivated, enthusiastic, and goal-oriented.
