Job Summary:

This position is located at our York, PA location. The experienced Mechanic Trainee will perform repairs and maintenance of fleet vehicles in the field and at construction sites. Our fleet includes pick-ups, bucket trucks, digger derricks, dozers, trenchers, excavators, backhoes, trailers, and loaders, and other related utility construction equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Routine maintenance and service of fleet vehicles at assigned intervals.
  • Documentation of PM reports & equipment repair logs.
  • Ford, Peterbilt, John Deere, Altec, Terex, Versalift, International, Cat, and Vermeer experience.
  • Ability to utilize laptop, smart devices, and software as a tool of the trade.
  • Need electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Be able to install and maintain telematics equipment such as Zonar.
  • Hydraulic and engine repairs.
  • Air brake repairs.
  • Chassis repairs.
  • Repair of construction-type fleet equipment and vehicles (including all phases of aerial device repairs).
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Field welding and fabrication on dirt and rock engagement equipment.

Qualifications

  • Desire to learn the diversified career path of a construction mechanic.
  • Some prior mechanical background helpful.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (50 LBS) and work in awkward positions.
  • Attention to detail, and a drive to safely do what it takes to get the job done desired.
  • Good analytical skills desired.
  • Ability to walk – sometimes long distances over uneven and wet surfaces.
  • The ability to work overtime when required, sometimes with short/same day notice.
  • Occasional and infrequent overnight travel.
  • Willingness to acquire hand-held trade tools.
  • Clean driving record with ability to obtain a future CDL-A.
