About the role

You’re an innovative thinker, passionate about the planet and eager to play a role in creating sustainable packaging that keeps the world healthy, fed and working. You’ll be responsible and accountable for the efficient running and continuous improvement in the areas detailed below.

Key Job Accountabilities:

People:

  • Undertaking resource planning in all areas of the unit, and ensuring all recruitment follows company procedure, liaising with The People Team.

  • Monitoring performance of colleagues in the department, and identifying and arranging training and development plans/courses as required.

  • Retain all training and development records accurately.

  • Performance monitoring colleagues, liaising with The People Team where required

  • Maintain performance within the department, and undertaking disciplinary procedures as required, and in liaison with The People Team.

  • Monitoring non-attendance levels and dealing with any issues in line with company procedure and in liaison with The People Team where necessary.

  • General administration duties e.g. holidays, absences and time sheet

    Operations:

    Monitoring and improving KPI’s

    Monitor/control working practices

    Work to ensure efficient tool changes are undertaken to continually improve OEE

    Continuous monitoring of workloads and personal tasks across the department.

    Implement, monitor and review good product quality processes

    Complete monthly department production report.

    Technical

    Efficient utilization of tooling and machine to maximise OEE.

    Support for sales and planning departments.

    Continuous improvement of product repeatability & reliability.

    Continuous improvement of machine efficiency.

    On-going development/training of production team in all aspects

    Communication:

    Active Communication in a reactive environment in all aspects to ensure effective communication between the production area and senior leaders, as well as other areas of the business (e.g.: planning, sales etc.) to achieve a smooth-running department.

    Monthly meetings

    Lead on the delivery of Townhalls, Toolbox Talks, Team talks and other departmental communication tools.

    Address follow up action as required.

    Monthly department efficiency reports encompassing all aspects of the department.

    Health and Safety:

    Ensure all colleagues are trained and understand H&S requirements in the department and where necessary across the site.

    Ensure all machine risk assessments are carried out and communicated to all colleagues.

    Ensure all personnel risk assessments are carried out and communicated to all colleagues.

    Ensure all colleagues are trained and undertake correct manual handling techniques.

    Ensure all C.O.S.H.H. checks are carried out and communicated to colleagues.

    Ensure good housekeeping practices are always maintained within the department, with regular 5S monitoring being undertaken and issues timely followed up.

    Quality:

    Monitoring controlling and reviewing working practices to ensure company quality targets are met.

    Budgeting:

    Undertaking effective resource planning to minimise production people costs

    Monitor and report on capital expenditure to department.

    The post holder may be required to perform duties other than those given in the role profile. The duties and responsibilities attached to the role may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed. Such variations are a common occurrence and would not justify the re-evaluation of the role themselves.
