The Vacancy

Richard Allitt Associates Ltd (RAA)part ofRSK Groupwas established in 1996 to deliver innovative solutions for the complex needs of customers of the urban drainage industry. As Consulting Engineers, we maintain a traditional family based approach to business, putting client needs first and resolving flooding problems in the urban environment using the latest hydraulic modelling and analytical techniques.

We are now hiring for aPrincipal Wastewater Network Engineer/Modellerto join the team on a hybrid basis/ flexible basis and working from one of our offices based inCrawley, Warrington or Birmingham, Derby, Glasgow or Edinburgh.

This is a permanent position for a Principal Wastewater Network Engineer with a proven background in wastewater networks planning and engineering. The successful candidate will be at or nearing Chartered status (CIWEM or ICE) and will have an eagerness to become involved in the analysis of sewers and urban watercourses to identify and design solutions to mitigate the urban flood risk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with a small team of Modellers to develop Integrated Urban Drainage solutions
  • Taking a lead role in the identification of urban drainage solutions and work with modellers during the optioneering process
  • Developing engineering solutions to flooding issues and working with the modelling teams to optimise these solutions
  • Responsibility for the Financial and Technical management of projects
  • Mentoring and upskilling the modelling staff in the optioneering process
  • Liaising with Clients, Statutory Authorities and Stakeholders
  • Assisting with the development of new techniques and skills•
  • Preparing reports etc and undertake checking of work done by others
  • Undertaking other duties as required to meet the project workload


Person Specification:

  • Minimum 8 years proven experience in wastewater network engineering
  • Chartered Member of a relevant professional institution (or approaching Chartered status)
  • Highly proficient computer and technical skills
  • Ability to effectively manage workloads
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated, able to work under pressure in a team environment
