Building a sustainable tomorrow
BAM Construction is recruiting a Senior Design Manager to join their team in the Scotland Region based in the Stepps office in Glasgow.
Working 42.5 hours per week Monday - Friday. You will be directly reporting to the Regional Design Manager, you will be involved in all aspects of pre-construction and construction phases of projects executed within the region, mainly in the central belt of Scotland.
Your mission
Responsibilities Include:
• Design management of live projects under construction.
• Participate in tender process.
• Design management of successful tenders from preferred bidder stage to financial close.
• Ensure technical compliance, quality and appropriateness of solutions delivered.
• Minimise design contingency spend and manage design risk across all stages.
• Ensure lessons learned are incorporated into design solutions.
Who are we looking for?
• A proven record of managing all design aspects of a project from tender through to completion, you will be expected to work effectively as an integral member of the bid and construction delivery team.
• Good knowledge of design and construction management, construction standards, regulations, legislation, and construction processes.
• Ability to manage the team in a clear and concise way and demonstrate effective decision making to ensure the successful management of all design information.
• Ability to prioritise both your own workload to meet required deadlines.
• Ability to communicate and engage with clients and stakeholders across both pre-construction and construction.
• Previous experience working in a similar role.
• Good time management and able to commit and work to deadlines.
• An eye for detail and an unwillingness to compromise on quality.
• Ability to work well in within a team and good interpersonal skills.
• Effective and persuasive internal and external communication skills.
• Good understanding of current regulations and requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• Proficient in use of CDE / digital information portals
