Defence Digital Senior Information Right Officer Job Description:
As a Senior Rights Information Officer, your primary responsibility will be to assist the Departmental Data Protection Officer of the MOD in executing their duties. You will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with legal information obligations, such as the Freedom of Information Act and the Data Protection Act, which are essential for Defence. Additionally, you will offer advice and guidance on information compliance issues to the broader MOD, encompassing its agencies, affiliated organisations, and other Government Departments.
Collaborating closely with the Information Commissioner, the Cabinet Office, and the Department of Culture, Media, and Sport to guarantee that the Ministry of Defence's processes and practices are adequate and compliant with legal requirements, while also ensuring the implementation of best practices.
Defence Digital Senior Information Right Officer Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the provision of guidance regarding the management and processing of personal data within Defence Digital.
  • Offer advice and support MOD wide, including the oversight of complaints and casework.
  • Develop and implement the protocols, processes, and procedures for the effective handling and management of personal information in Defence Digital.
  • Contribute to information audits and the overall assurance program within Defence Digital.
  • Identify and communicate risks and issues related to Data Protection, escalating concerns to the Data Protection Officer as necessary.
  • Aid in breach investigations and assist in the preparation of legal documentation for any tribunals or appeals concerning the management of personal information.

    As a Senior Rights Information Officer in a rapidly evolving environment, you will face numerous emerging challenges. Therefore, effective communication skills are crucial. You must confidently convey messages clearly, honestly, and persuasively to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
    You will thrive in managing multiple responsibilities concurrently within a vibrant and diverse environment, showcasing the resilience required to handle conflicting deadlines and priorities. Furthermore, being adaptable in managing tasks and a readiness to assist colleagues are essential qualities.

    Hybrid Working
    Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and remote working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office will also count towards this level of attendance.     their team from the vacancy holder (see advert for contact details). This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. The successful candidate is required to carry out all their duties from a UK location and cannot do so from an overseas location at any time.
