Overview

The Hazleton Divisionofthe H&K Group, Inc.is looking for a self-motivated Survey Technician to assist the Party Chief and the survey department in general. Prior experience and education are a bonus but not necessary. A willingness to learn and contribute to our technology-driven Survey Dept. is necessary. Our Survey Team is responsible for the general layout of our projects and works with project management to apply best site development practices to ensure Quality Control throughout the life of our projects. You will be exposed to the latest technology the Survey industry has to offer including 3D Machine Control, data acquisition via drone and scanners, survey and modeling software, and robotic and GNSS hardware.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Perform surveying & mapping duties under the direction of the Party Chief.
  • Develop fundamental construction layout concepts and skills.
  • Develop the ability to read and understand project drawings.
  • Learn the proper use and care of modern surveying equipment including robotic instruments, GPS base stations, and machine control systems.
  • Perform quality control procedures to ensure that work is being performed to expected tolerances.
  • Record topographic data, perform volume calculations, verify data for construction, mapping, boundary, mining or other purposes.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

  • One year certificate from an accredited college or technical school or three months of related experience and/or training. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Mathematical skills
  • Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Problem solving
  • Learning agility
  • Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
  • Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Six months of related experience and/or training
  • Experience with Trimble survey equipment and software
  • Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
  • OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
