Veterans in UAVs & Drones: A Military‑to‑Civilian Pathway into Uncrewed Aviation Careers

Introduction Britain’s skies are getting crowded—by design. The UK Future Flight Challenge is injecting £300 million into next‑generation drones, cargo VTOLs, and air‑traffic management (ATM) tech. Whether you flew a Watchkeeper UAS over Helmand, maintained quadcopters for route clearance, or coordinated temporary danger areas (TDAs) for training, your skills map directly to the civilian drone revolution. This guide explains how to leverage MoD transition programmes, translate military credentials, and land rewarding roles in piloting, engineering, and drone‑data analytics.
