As ourArborist, you will be responsible for the safe removal and lineside clearance of vegetation and trees, supporting the transformation and maintenance of the UK’s railway structure. We have seen recent significant growth as a Principal Contractor and Framework Contractor to Network Rail.

As our Arborist, you will be responsible for:

  1. Completing all works to high and safe standards, adhering to internal procedures and industry standards.
  2. Operating and maintaining all plant, tools and equipment necessary to complete work, ensuring a high standard of equipment care.
  3. Climbing on a regular basis providing aerial rescue support to the rest of the team.
  4. Working in line with risk assessments, task briefings and safe systems of work.
  5. Removing hazardous trees, planting vegetation and trees, and assisting with light fencing repairs.
  6. Responding sensitively and appropriately to queries from lineside residents, escalating as required.

To be successful as our Arborist, we would ideally like you to have the following skills/experience:

  1. Recent experience as an operative, within vegetation/a railway environment.
  2. PTS (Personal Track Safety).
  3. Aerial Rescue.
  4. Use of Brush cutter, Strimmer and/or Chipper.

  1. You will be confident working with various tools and possess a good working knowledge of health and safety practices.
  2. You will take pride in your work, completing tasks to a high standard – self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  3. A natural ability to build good working relationships with clients and colleagues.
  4. Methodical approach to problem-solving with excellent attention to detail.

This role can be physically demanding, and some tasks will be at heights. You will be required to work outside from time to time, so you must be happy to work in all that the British weather has to offer.
