About us
Darwen Vale High School is an 11-16 academy located on the outskirts of Darwen, benefiting from excellent transport links, making it accessible to staff commuting daily from nearby towns and cities such as Bolton, Lytham, Manchester, and Preston. Originally established as Darwen Grammar School in 1884, the school underwent extensive renovations in 2012 to accommodate its growing student population.
In recent years, Darwen Vale High School has seen impressive growth, with year groups increasing from 150 to 240 students, and it is projected to expand further with an estimated enrolment of over 1,200 students within the next three years. The school is proud of its academic achievements, having consistently improved its outcomes year on year. In 2023, the school achieved its highest-ever Progress 8 score, with English Language and Mathematics results surpassing the national average at both Grade 4+ and Grade 5+.

Are you a dynamic, forward-thinking educational leader? We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Principal for Behaviour and Attitudes to join our School Leadership Team (SLT). Under the direction of the Principal and or the Vice Principals, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the culture and academic success of our academy.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Communication: Lead by example, managing middle leaders and pastoral staff to foster a positive school culture.
  • Teaching, Learning & Assessment: Contribute to the continuous development of high-quality teaching practices and assessment strategies.
  • Evidence-based Approach: Bring a deep understanding of the latest educational research and theory to inspire and develop staff.
  • Behaviour & Attitudes: Lead initiatives to promote positive behaviour and attitudes, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The exact responsibilities within behaviour and attitudes will be dependent on the successful candidate's skill set and experience.
