Job Description:

Do you have experience in Avionic Systems and a desire to work across a range of helicopter platforms including conventional helicopters and unmanned air systems?

As an Avionic Systems Engineer, working within our Helicopter Division you will be responsible for the design, verification & support of avionics systems, from initial design through to supporting flight test programmes.

AtLeonardo Helicopterswe are responsible for the design of the complete air vehicle and working within the team you will have the ability to participate in all phases of the product design life cycle from leading edge innovation to supporting aging aircraft.

As part of the Systems Engineering Team you will define, instigate and execute the activities required to design, develop and qualify avionic systems in response to specific customer requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • You will work closely with customers to derive system level requirements.
  • You will manage external suppliers to deliver equipment that meets these requirements.
  • You will work with systems integration and test to prove and qualify the avionic system.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Engineering Degree in a relevant subject (Electrical / Electronics / Aeronautical) or equivalent experience.
  • A proven background in developing avionics in an aerospace environment (civil or military).
  • A specific in-depth knowledge and recent experience in the design, development, integration and qualification of avionics systems (civil or military).
  • A knowledge and appreciation of the full Systems Engineering lifecycle.
  • Experience of avionics interface protocols, e.g. ARINC-429, MIL-STD-1553B, Ethernet/AFDX.
  • Experience of creating and editing systems documentation.
  • Ability to communicate equally across multi-functional teams and at all levels.

Advantageous:

  • Experience of integration, qualification and certification of the latest Cockpit Display, Navigation, Mission or Armament systems.
  • Experience of aerospace standards, e.g. DEF STAN 970, ARP-4754, DO-160, DO-178, DO-254.
  • Experience in the development of avionics system architectures.
  • Knowledge and experience of the challenges associated with unmanned systems.
