General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provides avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters, and UAVs. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of the latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems, and stores management systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.

Job Description
As aSenior Electronics Test Engineer, you will play a leading role within the company. You will work closely with the Test Manager to provide hardware expertise for the testing and repair of both electronic circuit card assemblies and fully assembled electronic units. In this senior position, you will be expected to fault-find failing units down to component level. You may also be required to mentor junior members of our engineering team, to improve their knowledge and ability to diagnose failures.

You will be good at decision making and be capable of open technical discussion. You will need to be a team player but also capable of working individually. As your role grows, there will be opportunities for you to become an Engineering Team Lead with direct reports and additional responsibilities.

Qualifications
To be successful in the role you will need to bring:

  • Ideally a HNC level education or equivalent, with a proven range of relevant experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electronic hardware
  • Experience of operating test equipment such as oscilloscopes, analysers etc.
  • Perform complex technical investigations individually or with a team
  • Developing, analysing, improving and implementing test strategies
  • Potential Leadership skills
  • Act and make decisions upon your own initiative
  • Excellent capacity for problem solving combined with report writing skills
  • Capable of working on numerous tasks in parallel

Additional Information
This role ofSenior Electronics Hardware Engineerhas a starting salary of £43,200 to £52,000 dependant upon experience and an attractive flexible benefits package.
