About the Role:

We are representing a respected and growing civil engineering contractor in their search for an experienced and proactive Bid Manager. This is a key role within the business, responsible for leading and managing the entire bid process from start to finish - including hands-on bid writing, coordinating technical inputs, and ensuring timely, high-quality submissions.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, be comfortable writing persuasive content, and excel at driving deadlines across internal and external stakeholders.

Bid Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the full bid lifecycle, from initial opportunity qualification through to submission and post-bid feedback.
Write and edit high-quality, compelling bid content, tailoring responses to client requirements and evaluation criteria.
Coordinate inputs from technical teams, planners, estimators, and commercial departments to ensure cohesive and compliant submissions.
Develop win themes and value propositions that clearly articulate the client's strengths and differentiators.
Manage bid schedules and ensure all deliverables are submitted on time and to a professional standard.
Conduct tender briefings, review meetings, and post-submission evaluations.
Work with the senior leadership team to identify pipeline opportunities and bidding strategies.
Maintain a library of standard responses and project case studies to support future bids.

Bid Manager

Candidate Requirements:

Proven experience as a Bid Manager or Senior Bid Writer within the civil engineering or construction sector.
Demonstrated ability to write and manage bids independently - this is a hands-on role, not purely coordination.
Strong understanding of infrastructure tendering processes and frameworks (e.g. highways, utilities, rail, general civils).
Excellent written English with an eye for detail, structure, and persuasive language.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure.
Familiarity with NEC, JCT or similar contract forms is advantageous.
APMP or other relevant bid management qualifications.
Graphic/layout awareness (Adobe InDesign, Canva, etc.) for bid presentation (desirable but not essential).
