Are you a Business Development Manager with experience in selling software solutions to the payroll and HR sector? If so, we have a great opportunity for you to join a prestigious global SaaS company and increase revenue targets whilst. The role is hybrid and the salary is £55k basic plus £35k OTE!

My client is an international provider of software solutions using technology to make life easier for schools and teachers. All products and services are built with teachers and schools needs at the core, ensuring they are innovative, trusted education solutions.

They are looking for a talented and experienced Business Development Manager to join their team. This role focuses on growing SaaS revenues for the company’s intuitive, education-specific payroll and pensions platform, among existing accounts and new prospects. The primary objective is to identify senior finance, HR, and operations decision-makers in schools and trusts, understand their unique payroll challenges, and build relationships to secure new sales and increase revenue. Responsibilities include managing the full sales pipeline, delivering expert product demonstrations using a value-based approach, and consistently achieving ambitious revenue targets.

You will operate primarily in a virtual, outbound sales environment and focus on opportunities within large secondary schools and multi-academy trusts (MATs), positioning the payroll software as the ideal solution for streamlining school payroll and pension administration.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed sales targets and KPIs

  • Proactively generate outbound leads through calls, emails, and outreach to build a robust sales pipeline.

  • Identify white space within your account base and engage senior stakeholders.

  • Deliver persuasive, high-standard product demonstrations that highlight real-world value

  • and compliance benefits.

  • Own and manage the sales cycle end-to-end using a structured, value-led sales process.

  • Maintain accurate forecasting and detailed CRM records.

  • Keep up-to-date on payroll regulations affecting schools, market trends, and competitor activity.

  • Collaborate with other teams to identify cross-sell opportunities across the full software

  • suite.

  • Establish the company as a trusted partner by building strong relationships with key decision-makers at school and MAT level.

  • Be a role model for Business Development Executives and support team growth through best- practice sharing.

    Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven success in outbound SaaS sales, ideally selling to education, HR, or finance sectors.

  • Demonstrated ability to exceed ambitious sales targets in a fast- paced environment.

  • Experience engaging with senior decision-makers and navigating complex deals.

  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of payroll/pension pain points in education settings.

  • Strong understanding of Payroll & HR Solutions

  • Ability to identify and act on market trends, regulatory changes, and customer needs within the school sector

  • Customer Focus: Confident and empathetic approach to understanding the unique challenges of schools and MATs.

  • Sales Acumen: Ability to apply a consultative sales approach that demonstrates clear ROI for customers.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal communication and storytelling skills, particularly when running product demos.

  • Influencing: Gravitas to influence C-level stakeholders and win trust across varying seniorities.

  • Organisation: Highly organised and detail-oriented with strong pipeline management and forecasting discipline.
