General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters, and UAV’s. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and stores management systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilledAzure Cloud Infrastructure Engineerto join our dynamic IT team.

You will work with vendors, architectural teams and department management to continually improve information technology infrastructure as well as drive the adoption of the latest technologies.

You will work closely with the IT Leadership team to deliver transformation aligned to a “Cloud First” strategy.

You will provide mentoring and training to others both within and outside of the IT Services department.

Typical Responsibilities Include

  • Deploy scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on Azure
  • Manage and monitor cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Bicep, Terraform or ARM templates
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure seamless integration of applications with cloud services
  • Automate cloud operations and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will be experienced in virtualization and modern cloud technologies and contribute to helping shape our infrastructure services as a whole to provide assurance, stability and reliability across delivery and support of IT projects, programs and services.

You Will Bring

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure as a subject matter expert (SME)
  • Significant background and experience in IT infrastructure support and implementation activities
  • Certifications in fields of expertise are an asset, such as Microsoft Azure, etc. but not required.

Additional Information

Salary for this position is £42,400 to £53,000, depending on experience plus our excellent flexible benefits package.

We are open to this role being spent with time working from home and in the office (hybrid - typically 2/3 days working in office) on a weekly basis or fully in our offices.
