Middleton Sports Club is a private members clubs established almost 80 years ago. Sports include, cricket, tennis, bowls, hockey, squash, stoolball and has a gym onsite with hi tech equpment. In addtion, we have a lovely social bar and we cater for any events in our restaurant with connecting marquee. In order to continually attract members of all ages we have restructured and have identified the need for a Club Manager who can help us support our 1500 members and take the club to the next level and assist us in acheiving our 5 year strategy

We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic and experienced to oversee the daily operations of our vibrant, friendly sports club. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in people management and experience in the hospitality sector. As the Club Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of Middleton Sports Club, ensuring the delivery of high-quality sports, leisure, and hospitality services. The Club Manager will be responsible for driving membership, maintaining excellent member satisfaction, increasing usage of the club’s facilities, and managing a cohesive team to meet operational, financial, and strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with the Chair of the Board or individual Directors to ensure all sports and clubhouse facilities are well managed and fit for purpose.

  • Assist with planning and implementing facility upgrades or new projects as required.

  • Provide regular updates to the Board of Directors on club performance, challenges, and opportunities, while providing regular KPI reports.

  • Ensure compliance with club policies, health and safety, safeguarding provisions, and licensing regulations.

  • Manage a team of bar staff and/or contractors including front of house and grounds staff.. Recruit and train new staff when required.

  • Conduct regular performance/contract reviews and provide staff development opportunities.

  • Engage with the local community and sports organisations to promote the club’s facilities and services.

  • Deal with customer feedback and provide adequate solutions to customer complaints.

  • Organise bar staff rotas to ensure the efficient and safe running of the club on a day to day basis.

  • Create a positive work environment for staff.

  • Meet membership, turnover and facility usage targets.

  • Oversee the cleanliness of the club environment and bar area, paying attention to possible health hazards and violations under environmental and health and safety regulations

    Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven management experience in a hospitality environment - essential

  • Experience of managing a team - essential.

  • Proven experience and/or training in health and safety procedures and management - an advantage

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Ability to provide staff training when required.

  • Working knowledge of Club V1 membership systems or equivalent system/programme - an advantage

  • Knowledge of alcohol and food/hygiene laws and best practices.

  • Website Management, Social media, Marketing/advertising.- an advantage
