OVERVIEW

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a reliable and hardworkingDriver’s Mate / Driver’s Assistantto support our Delivery and Collection Teamoperations. You will assist the Delivery Driver with the loading, unloading, and transportation of goods, ensuring excellent customer service and safe handling of items. This role involves working withcharity shops or retail white goods, such as furniture, electrical appliances, and household items.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the driver withloading and unloadingof deliveries and collections.
  • Safelyhandle and transportfurniture, appliances, and other goods.
  • Provideexcellent customer servicewhen delivering to charity shops or customers.
  • Ensure all items aredelivered in good conditionand placed as required.
  • Navigate routesand assist with directions when needed.
  • Help maintain aclean and safe vehicleand warehouse/storage areas.
  • Followhealth and safety procedures, including manual handling techniques.
  • Complete basic paperwork and records for deliveries and collections.
  • Assist inrecycling or disposing of unwanted itemsas per company policies.
  • Teamwork:You’ll work alongside a friendly removals crew to help clients move locally and across the UK.
  • Hands-On:From packing and loading white goods/charity items, to installing and cleaning packaging, no two days will be the same.
  • Customer Care:You’ll play a key role in making the day as smooth and stress-free as possible for clients and customers.
  • Learning on the Job:Full training will be provided, so you’ll feel confident in every part of the role.

  • UK Work Eligibility:All kust have the Right to Work in the UK
  • Vetting:All applicants must hold or pass a Criminal Record Check.
  • Navigation Skills:Ability to navigate effectively, using maps or GPS systems to plan routes and deliver goods efficiently.
  • Customer Service:Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with donors, recipients, and team members professionally and courteously.
  • Organisational Skills:Ability to manage collections, deliveries, and documentation, keeping track of schedules, inventory, and donations.
  • Problem Solving:Ability to quickly resolve issues such as unexpected delays or changes in delivery/pickup plans.
  • Physical Fitness:Ability to load, unload, and lift boxes or items (often requiring manual handling and heavy lifting).
  • Time Management:Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines, ensuring that collections and deliveries are completed on time.

  • Trustworthy:Ability to handle donations and valuable items with care and honesty, ensuring all items are accounted for.

  • Team Player:Willing to work collaboratively with other staff members, both in the van, our and our clients operations.
  • Self-Motivated:Ability to work independently when needed, using initiative to manage your workload and handle challenges.
  • Flexible:Willingness to adapt to changing schedules, tasks, and locations as required.
  • Compassionate:A genuine interest in and a passion for supporting the community or those in need.
  • Attention to Detail:Ensuring all items are accurately documented, handled carefully, and the vehicle is kept clean and well-organized.
  • Flexibility:You must have full time availability across the week, which will include weekend working.
