As a full-time soldier - entry-level Gunner – Uncrewed Aerial Systems – in the British Army, you’ll:
- Learn how to prepare a remote controlled drone for missions and how to fly it
- Gather intelligence and interpret the images, video and data you receive
- Protect troops in enemy territory
- Assist with finding and monitoring enemy threats
- Gain skills and qualifications in areas like IT and leadership
To qualify, you must be between 16 years and 35 years 6 months, and able to pass a basic fitness test. There are no formal qualifications needed for this role.

You’ll earn £26,334 a year from the start of your training. This will increase as you progress throughout your career. If you set your mind to it, you could reach Corporal within 5 years, earning £39,565.
You’ll also receive 30 days’ annual leave every year (plus bank holidays and extra leave after operations), free medical and dental care, cheaper living costs, and free gym and sports facilities. And unless you're away on operations or training exercises, you'll normally work 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
