We are currently recruiting for an experienced Area Commercial Manager (Aggregates and Asphalt) to join our Northern team. This is a mobile role covering the North West, North Wales, Cumbria, Yorkshire, Humber, and the North East.A company car will be provided but the base location is flexible assuming you can access all the required areas. We have bases in Salford, Leeds and Chester-le-Streetas well as many other locations in the region.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Commercial Director the Area Commercial Manager (Aggregates and Asphalt) will be responsible for the development of the area commercial strategy that supports the effective delivery of the Commercial elements of the business's strategy, business plans, and objectives.

You will manage a team of External Account Managers in the region who will identify and secure key strategic commercial opportunities to deliver budgeted volumes, margin expectations, and growth. As well as providing leadership, you will guide and direct your team to ensure objectives and targets are achieved leading to the overall delivery of the commercial strategy.You will also ensure robust profitable and competitive tenders are submitted, taking into account business capability, capacity, and financial, technical and contractual risk.

The role of Area Commercial Manager (Aggregates and Asphalt) will also be responsible for:

Working with members of the wider commercial team and other senior leaders across the region and beyond to ensure strategies are supported and embedded
Analysing and interpreting a variety of commercial information, applying a profitable mind-set and continuously looking at ways to drive sales, manage costs and add value
Developing relationships and manage key customers, exceeding customer expectations with particular emphasis on management of key accounts
Coaching and performance managing direct reports, instilling a performance culture and ensuring effective succession plans are in place within the external team
Leading change and encouraging a positive work culture with effective people management ensuring the attraction and retention of talent is a key priority
Working alongside the Commercial Director to drive the commercial excellence programmes
Building strong external contacts and network within the regional market to ensure that the business is well represented to take an active lead in discussions
Actively working with Regional Commercial management team to develop regional actions to support team performance targets

The Ideal Candidate

As theArea Commercial Manager (Aggregates and Asphalt), you will evidence a significant experience of developing and driving a commercial strategy including budgeting, forecasting, financial review and successful management of those processes gained ideally within building materials, construction or similar environment.

Key to your success will be your exceptional communication skills.As an influential and persuasive leader, you will have a successful track record in managing, developing, motivating and inspiring both direct reports and people in your wider organisation to cultivate strong, engaged and competent teams.

Suitable candidates for the role of Area Commercial Manager (Aggregates and Asphalt) will also have:

Experience of developing and driving a commercial strategy and delivering budgeting targets
Proven people management ability and experience of managing successful sales teams
Driving major change programmes through teams
Experience of inspiring business performance and driving improvement s
Experience of budgeting, forecasting, financial review and successful management of those processes
Strong negotiation and exceptional customer service skills

Please note this is a mobile role and a company car/allowance will be provided. The role also has the flexibility of hybrid working.
