Senior Piling Estimator

This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an individual with a strong technical background and demonstrable experience in taking the responsibility for the production of piling, foundations and ground engineering estimates, tenders and bids. This hybrid position has some working from home, and for office working for part of the week needs to be within commutable distance to either Chelmsford, Hemel Hempstead, Peterborough or Harlow. The permanent basic salary is £60,000 - £75,000 plus full benefits package.

Due to continued growth across the UK, and a peak in forward order tender workload demand, our client is now seeking to appoint a talented and motivated Senior Estimator possessing demonstrable experience within the piling, foundations and ground / geotechnical engineering sector.

The role will be to provide accurate and efficient cost estimates for projects throughout the UK. Your main responsibilities will be to produce innovative and competitive tenders, bids, proposals and quotations associated with all aspects of a variation of contracts. This will include co-ordinating with clients to produce a truly bespoke value engineered solution, ensuring that all tenders meet statutory legislation, regulations and client specifications.

The Person

  • Able to identify the requirements of assigned projects to efficiently and effectively produce a wide range of tenders and estimates for all piling, foundations and ground engineering contracts

  • Accurately prepare quotations considering all costs associated with the delivery of projects

  • Provide detailed hand over files to the Project Management Team to allow for the successful delivery of contracts

  • Correspond and negotiate with clients, suppliers, contractors and colleagues

  • Efficiently manage situations when workload presents conflicting demands on time and availability, demonstrating an ability to effectively prioritise and schedule

  • Monitor, progress and implement controls to ensure tasks are achieved to time, cost and quality

  • Develop and select effective solutions to challenging and complex project requirements, taking into account risk and opportunity

  • Communicate facts, ideas and proposals to all stakeholders (internally and externally) in an effective and persuasive manner

  • Deliver efficient and effective customer service at all times

    The Role

  • The primary responsibility is to develop accurate and timely estimates, and submit competitive bids and proposals for the company’s clients across the Scandinavian region

  • Analyse and interpret detailed client requirements, drawings and specifications

  • Determine and price value-engineered alternatives to plans and specifications utilising all aspects of your expertise to submit bespoke bids and proposals to clients

  • Attend pre and post tender bid meetings with clients and their representatives

  • Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed and calm manner

  • Assist the business sector as a whole to meet their financial targets

  • Help to identify and develop potential new opportunities for work

  • Help to identify new suppliers or sub-contractors to improve safety, performance and profit
