Ever found yourself on site, standing in the rain, wondering if there's more to life than chasing subbies and arguing over whose turn it is to buy the milk?

Good news: there is.
This £10m turnover contractor, now a solid 10 years in, is looking for a Small Works Surveyor - basically someone who can keep small-to-medium jobs moving without needing a 14-page pre-start meeting to do it.

The projects range from £1k to £250k - maintenance and refurb-type stuff: a bit of paint, plumbing, patching, decorating, M&E… the kind of work that actually keeps buildings standing while the big boys post drone footage.

You'll be based in the office, but still popping out to site to make sure everyone's doing something vaguely useful. Perfect for a site manager who's had one too many winters in a portacabin and fancies a role where you can wear normal trousers again OR you could currently be a Building Surveyor with 10 years of experience.

They'd love someone with surveying experience, OR just solid site know-how and the ability to price jobs (don't worry, can be taught - they use a schedule of rates), manage subbies, and generally stop chaos before it starts.

A car's included - mainly so you can get from Dartford to Morden without explaining to HR that the train was cancelled again.

The directors are proper people: helpful, fair, and not the micromanage your timesheet type. They'll give guidance, but they'd prefer you know one end of a quote from the other.
If you've got that Liam Neeson in hi-viz skillset - calm, capable, slightly dangerous with a calculator - you'll be fine.

Career-wise, it's a launchpad to Project or Site Management, or just a cracking gig for someone who wants a bit more variety and a bit less frostbite.
