Job Description

Stobart are now seeking a Transport Shift Manager to join our Transport team in Bridgwater. 

As Transport Shift Manager you will work collaboratively to ensure effective running of a busy transport operation, ensuring that Operational KPIs are met and that the operations are conducted strictly in accordance with legal requirements, whilst helping to formulate and deliver the short, medium and long-term resource plans for your area.

Shift Pattern: Any 4 from 7 days, 06:00-18:00

Job responsibilities of Transport Shift Manager include:

Work collaboratively with our Myworkforce team ensuring compliance of all MWF activity and tasks including resource planning and managing the safety and cost-effective utilisation of all drivers and equipment
Responsible for owning, monitor and controlling the driver de-briefing process to ensure that agreed standards of performance are consistently achieved by effective communication and management.
To manage and support driver workforce all drivers whilst engaged on activity to ensure full legal compliance. Ensure records are correctly completed and maintained in accordance to the procedure.
Conduct emplyee investigations, grievance and disapinaries when required. 
Manage all aspects of driver performance to achieve or surpass expectations and KPI's.
Promote company Health & Safety and employment policies within the transport operation.
Ensuring all personnel files are up to date incorporating licence validation, personal details, completed training.
Responsible for site audits and works closely with the Transport Manager to ensure KPI’s are met
To support the daily operational workflow on the customer site by providing answers to urgent queries
Actively work with the customer and site management team to achieve performance addressing any concerns or questions within a timely manner
Manage the recruitment of permanent and temporary staff as required to cover business peaks.
Ensure that the Transport Manager & the H&S team are made aware of all accidents, dangerous occurrences & near misses and that the relevant reports are completed for all such incidents.
Responsible for identifying and escalating any maintenance and repair issues on site and within depot
Ensure that all daily vehicle check, vehicle inspection & defect reporting procedures are in place

Qualifications

Proven track record in Transport & Logistics industry
Demonstrable experience of successful resource management
Excellent organisation and communication skills
Proven track record of working to clearly defined service delivery KPI's
Excellent understanding of Health and Safety processes
Energetic and has a natural desire to generate and drive improvements
Good people engagement skills, self-driven, positive can-do attitude.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a customer facing environment
