£13,114.40 for a 12-month fixed term contract

Accountability

Accountable to the Manager / Supervisor on a daily basis and to the Board of Trustees of the Benefit Advice Shop.

Purpose of the post

To provide advice, guidance and assistance on all aspects of the Welfare Benefit system to the general public to maximise benefit entitlements of claimants.

Main areas of responsibility

  • To assess client’s entitlement to Welfare Benefits by investigating their circumstances in relation to Welfare Benefit Legislation in order to maximise their benefit entitlement.

  • To assist in keeping an up-to-date library of reference material and information relating to Welfare Benefits and interpretations of legislation to provide maximum access to benefit information for staff, volunteers and clients.

  • Alongside other staff and volunteers to participate when necessary in local activities to ensure the services offered by the Benefit Advice Shop are effectively promoted.

  • To participate in all staff meetings.

  • To work in the main office dealing with clients either by telephone or in person by undertaking Welfare Benefit entitlements, completing Welfare Benefit claims and claim forms, challenging negative Welfare Benefit decisions.

  • When necessary to attend outreaches to assist clients.

  • When necessary to attend home visits to clients unable to attend the office.

  • When required to assist the Appeals Officer with Social Security Appeal Tribunals. Full training will be given.

  • To attend training courses both internally and externally.

  • To assure strict confidentiality of all documents relating to the Benefit Advice Shop and to comply with Benefit Advice Shop policies and procedures.

  • Any other duties within reason which fall within the scope of the post and are agreed by the post holder, the Manager and the Board of Trustees.

    Confidentiality is a strict legal requirement of this post.

    Due to nature of the role a DBS check is essential.

  • I gynorthwyo gyda chadw llyfrgell o ddeunyddiau a gwybodaeth cyfeiriadol cyfredol yn ymwneud â Budd-daliadau Lles a dehongliadau o ddeddfwriaeth er mwyn darparu hygyrchedd llawn at wybodaeth am fudd-daliadau i staff, gwirfoddolwyr a chleientiaid.

  • Ochr-yn-ochr â staff a gwirfoddolwyr eraill, i gyfranogi, lle bo angen, mewn gweithgareddau lleol i sicrhau bod y gwasanaethau a gynigir gan y Siop Cyngor ar Fudd-daliadau yn cael eu hyrwyddo’n effeithiol.

  • I weithio yn y brif swyddfa’n delio gyda chleientiaid un ai drod y ffôn neu wyneb-yn-wyneb trwy ymgymryd â hawliadau Budd-dal Lles, cwblhau hawliadau a ffurflenni hawliadau Budd-daliadau Lles, herio penderfyniadau Budd-daliadau Lles negyddol.

  • Pan fo angen, i fynychu gweithgareddau allgymorth i gynorthwyo cleientiaid.

  • Pan fo angen, i fynychu ymweliadau cartref at gleientiaid sy’n methu dod i’r swyddfa.

  • Pan fo angen, i gynorthwyo’r Swyddog Apeliadau gyda Thribiwnlysoedd Apeliadau Nawdd Cymdeithasol. Rhoddir hyfforddiant llawn.
