My client is a privately owned civil engineering and infrastructure specialist, built on strong family values, the business has grown to become one of the UK’s leading contractors in the sector. With more than four decades of experience, they deliver design, construction, and maintenance solutions across a diverse range of industries, including: Water, Transport, Civils and Energy.

Operating as a Tier One contractor, my client works with major regulated utilities, blue-chip organisations, and private sector customers. Projects are delivered through long-term frameworks, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and standalone contracts, with a strong focus on developing lasting partnerships built on trust, quality, and shared values.

THE ROLE:
The Site Agent will take full responsibility for managing construction activities on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role requires maintaining strict compliance with health & safety, environmental, and commercial controls while meeting or exceeding client expectations.

Working closely with the Contracts Manager or Project Manager, as well as engineers and quantity surveyors, you will oversee project execution in regulated environments and ensure operational excellence throughout.

KEY DUTIES:
Site Management:
• Lead the successful delivery of projects within the Civils and Water sectors
• Ensure all works are completed to specification and without defects
• Manage and coordinate Sub Agents, Engineers, and Forepersons as required
• Develop and implement Project Plans, RAMS, ITPs, and Waste Management Plans
• Drive strong commercial performance across the contract
• Develop, manage, and monitor detailed construction programmes
• Produce procurement schedules and liaise with supply chain for adequate resourcing
• Prepare accurate and high-quality monthly reports for internal and external stakeholders
• Lead weekly site meetings in line with company governance procedures

Client & Stakeholder Management:
• Act as a professional rep of the business to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies
• Ensure delivery consistently meets or surpasses customer expectations

Commercial & Cost Control:
• Develop and manage the project cost plan
• Maximise project value and identify value engineering opportunities
• Maintain comprehensive site records and diaries
• Monitor costs, forecasts, and reporting to ensure financial targets are achieved
• Challenge inefficiencies and promote continuous improvement

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Proven experience as a Site Agent within Civil Engineering, in highly regulated environments
• Strong understanding of contract conditions, CDM regulations and Design Management
• Strong understanding of programme planning, risk management, and commercial reporting
• Knowledge of civil engineering specifications and testing standards
• Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
• Valid CSCS card
• IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS certification
• Temporary Works Coordinator qualification
• Confined Space training
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to review and challenge designs and drive issues through to resolution

DESIRABLE
• CEng MICE (or equivalent professional accreditation)
• Experience using Primavera P6
• Familiarity with JCT and NEC contract forms
