Role Overview:

The Specification Development Manager is a strategic, client-facing role focused on driving growth across our core product range, particularly in Lighting, Energy, and E-Mobility solutions. Integral to the role is active client engagement, relationship-building, and project management. This role plays a key part in achieving sales targets, ensuring strong relationships with clients, and supporting business development efforts. The Specification Development Manager will regularly utilize the company CRM to track projects, forecast sales, and report client interactions.

Key Responsibilities:



Client-Facing Sales Development:
Lead and cultivate relationships with clients, including Specifiers, End Users, and Contractors. Conduct regular in-person meetings to understand client needs, provide tailored solutions, and drive sales across Lighting, Energy, and E-Mobility product ranges.

Sales Target Achievement:
Strategically work with a business plan to achieve and surpass annual sales targets. Manage a dynamic sales pipeline, focusing on both acquiring new business and expanding existing accounts within the direct customer sectors.

Project Management & CRM Reporting:
Utilize the company’s CRM system to track client projects from initial inquiry to post-sale follow-up. Ensure accurate project updates, regular status reporting, and monthly sales forecasts.

Product and Market Expertise:
Become a key product expert by providing technical support, product training, CPDs, and market insights to both clients and internal teams. Identify new product opportunities and deliver competitive market analysis.

*

Strategy Development & Execution:
Develop and execute strategic plans for each client channel. Expand market share in the Lighting, Energy, and E-Mobility sectors while promoting energy and installation products.

*

Partnership & Network Expansion:
Establish and maintain installation partnerships across the UK. Collaborate with external partners to ensure alignment with business objectives.

*

Business Intelligence:
Provide valuable market insights to support product marketing and development strategies.

*

Regular Client Engagement:
Ensure strong relationships through regular client meetings, identifying new opportunities, and driving sales growth.

*

Market Reporting & Forecasting:
Generate regular market reports and sales forecasts based on CRM data, keeping management informed on key projects, opportunities, and trends.

*

Channel & Account Management:
Take ownership of sales through multiple channels as defined by the business strategy. Maximize business development opportunities and collaborate with colleagues to promote other company products.

*

Internal and External Support:
Provide technical assistance and market training to colleagues as needed.

*

Business Planning:
Develop annual business plans with specific revenue targets, focusing on partner networks and targeted client types.

*

New Product Proposals:
Propose new product opportunities to clients and colleagues, highlighting key features, benefits, and competitive analysis.

*

Channel Strategy & Quotation Management:
Define pricing strategies and manage quotations for each channel, presenting the company’s value proposition.

*

Lead Generation & Reporting:
Proactively use the lead generation system and report progress and ROI to management in monthly reports.

Skills & Qualifications:

Proven experience in Business Development, Sales, or Account Management, particularly in E-Mobility, Lighting, Energy, or related industries.

*

Strong client-facing experience with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.

*

Proficiency in using CRM systems for project tracking, sales forecasting, and reporting.

*

Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to present complex product solutions effectively.

*

Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.

*

Strong presentation skills, with the ability to communicate both technically and commercially.

*

Exceptional organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple client meetings, projects, and internal reporting.

*

Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve business objectives.

*

In-depth knowledge of industry trends, competitors, relevant legislation, and key technologies.

Strong network of industry contacts, including Designers, Specifiers, Contractors, End Users, and Local Authorities.
