Business Development Manager (Renewable Energy)

Role Purpose:

  • Responsible to help establish and grow the renewables team

  • The post will manage business developments and sales functions primarily in the B2B market with a focus upon longer term strategic partnerships. The postholder will operate in a team, with other Business Development Managers who will each focus upon different markets.

  • But, as with any young business, we all need to be flexible and to maximise opportunities across a range of markets, as they emerge.

  • This role will seek to grow the turnover rapidly in order to ‘gift-back’ profit to support the costs of our social housing and community development activities.

    Essential Criteria:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the main operators, technologies – specific reference to heat pumps and solar energy. Knowledge of design, installation and maintenance of different technologies.

  • Excellent knowledge of design, installation and maintenance of different technologies.

  • How to accurately survey properties to support accurate design.

  • Good understanding of values driving partner organisations

  • Good experience in marketing and business development, preparing quotes and tenders.

  • Tendering systems and procurement frameworks.

  • Submitting of bids and tenders.

  • Ensuring a smooth handover of projects which can be delivered to timetable and price.

  • Highly proficient in managing finances and use of IT;

  • Excellent marketing, interpersonal and communication skills to engage, motivate and influence others at all levels and across teams – including pitching for business;

  • Customer service skills, building empathy and assurance / confidence;

  • Self-motivated, persuasive, persistent;

  • Role model for positive attitude to health and safety for all staff and contractors

  • Practical, problem-solving approach balancing quality and customer satisfaction whilst ensuring profitability.

  • A commitment to improving practice standards and personal competencies

  • Confidence to analyse, make decisions and clear recommendations from data

  • Proactive leadership skills to drive projects and performance;

  • Ability to work well both as part of a small team and with wider teams across the business with the flexibility to adapt and take on a number of roles at any time;

  • The application of regulations and other associated guidance in practice •

  • Business development experience in renewable energy selling systems to varying markets.

  • Experience of delivering business growth and change

  • Good experience in marketing and business development, preparing quotes and tenders
