Role Overview

The Credit Manager will be responsible for overseeing the business’s credit control and credit risk functions. The successful candidate will implement effective strategies to maximise recoveries from the sales ledger while minimising bad debt exposure by identifying early signs of risk.

Key Responsibilities

*

Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Credit Control team, including supervision and performance support.

*

Report monthly credit control results and highlight any areas of risk or concern to senior management.

*

Set and monitor targets for cash collection and aged debt reduction.

*

Authorise new customer credit applications and review specific billing requirements.

*

Identify and escalate credit risks and other financial concerns.

*

Monitor the customer database for changes in trading behaviour or risk profile.

*

Collaborate with the Assistant Credit Manager to communicate and drive team performance targets.

*

Conduct regular ledger reviews with team leads and credit controllers.

*

Manage the retrospective rebate process, including reporting and approval coordination.

Key Accountabilities

*

Ensure accurate and timely record keeping.

*

Maintain the transactional integrity of all sales ledger accounts.

*

Resolve unallocated cash and outstanding queries in a timely manner.

*

Promptly identify and escalate credit risk issues or payment blockages.

Person Specification

*

CICM qualification (or working toward).

*

Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to engage confidently at all levels.

*

Organised, detail-oriented, and able to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.

*

Persuasive and results-driven, with a proven track record of influencing outcomes.

*

Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.

*

Able to meet tight deadlines without compromising accuracy.
