About the Role
To lead the design of the site layout from concept through to planning approval encompassing architectural and engineering aspects in order to maximise the development potential and returns of the site, whilst ensuring that all constraints have been considered, relevant building regulations and highway design guide requirements are adhered to.
Overall responsibility for the production of layout drawings together with supporting information that meets with the Company’s development objectives to receive approval from the appropriate Authorities.
To ensure that the company complies with all relevant planning legislation.
Responsibilities

  • Produce site layouts to ensure that all facets of a development are designed to Company standards considering buildability whilst meeting, our design and brand values, marketing, sales and economic considerations and that all drawings, designs and risk assessments, detailing information are produced to a high standard, using standard protocols and professionally presented.
  • Produce constraint plans where third party information, reports and surveys must be reviewed, rationalised and accounted for as part of this process.
  • Assist with planning application submissions where needed within programming deadlines.
  • In close collaboration with the Land, Sales, Commercial, Architectural and Engineering Departments, to ensure that a co-ordinated and sustainable approach to the combined design function is achieved.
  • Coordinate the production and distribution of key technical updates and solutions to all internal departments in support of effective management and project delivery at every key stage of the development process.
  • Produce regular work progress reports, including assessments of key activity completion dates and dependences reporting movements in delivery timescales and costs (along with opportunities for time/cost savings) as and when required in accordance with departmental requirements and timetables.
    Required Skills
  • Strong design and planning expertise & technical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of the differing and varying planning requirements, policies and preferences of Local Authorities.
  • Knowledge of Highways Authority design guides.
  • Sound knowledge of current building regulations.
  • Knowledge of specific design and specification features and planning approaches to expedite planning approvals and maximise value to the company.
  • Sound working knowledge of all CAD and other software packages, and data management systems used by the company.
  • Sound working knowledge of cost accounting and data management systems used by the company.
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations, LABC/NHBC requirements and Codes of Practice.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Leadership and coaching skills.
  • Persuasion and influencing skills.
  • Interpersonal / motivation skills.
