Pin Point Recruitment are looking for a Documentation Design Engineer to join a manufacturing company based in Colchester.

The company are a specialist in their field, and design, test and manufacture their specialist products that offer a wide range of industrial and life applications.

As the Documentation Design Engineer you will play a key role in supporting the business’ growth and development of engineering solutions, supporting the strategic plan of the business by designing and developing new products in line with the NPI process. You will be accountable for ensuring the design meets the customer requirements and maturing the design changes.

Documentation Design Engineer Job Role:

  • Produce supporting detail drawings and bills of materials for integration into product configuration and ERP software tools.

  • Produce technical documentation in accordance with the New Product Introduction Process – Design FMEA, Product Risk Analysis, Technical Product Specifications etc.

  • Support Business Unit Continuous, Productivity and Service Level Improvement activities working with the Process/Manufacturing/ Engineers.

  • Ability to produce documentation and deliverable reports which are correct in both detail and scope.

  • Develop and design new products in line with the technical specifications.

  • Prepare and report project progress at monthly reviews within the engineering team.

  • Work within the team to develop business opportunities at the project concept stage.

  • Identify and implement improvements in design tools and systems to drive increased productivity within the NPI process.

  • Produce product/component designs, from concept through to manufacturing readiness, using a high end 3D CAD package.

  • Demonstrate an ability to work with a multifunctional organisation to find solutions to the bid/project needs.

  • Support the project deliverables and drive the quality culture towards engineering excellence

    Documentation Design Engineer Skills Required:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in an HVAC engineering environment.

  • Demonstratable experience in working on development and delivery projects.

  • Excellent Stakeholder management at all levels

  • Be able to produce accurate documentation

  • Knowledge of software and programming advantageous

  • HNC/Degree in an Engineering Discipline, relevant QA Qualification or equivalent

  • Knowledge and awareness of engineering procedures

  • Good knowledge of engineering tools (i.e. solidworks)

  • High level analytical abilities

  • Excellent persuasion and presentation skills

  • Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work at all levels of the organisation

  • Awareness of manufacturing processes and Lean Manufacturing principles
