The Role
The Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day management, support and administration of the IT, Network and Cloud services infrastructure across Bournemouth sites. Working as part of a growing IT team, you will also be an escalation point for their service desk engineers and a level of end user support will be required, including on Match Days.
You will primarily be based at their brand new Canford Magna Training Complex although frequently will be required to work at the Stadium too.
This role would be suitable for: A senior-level Infrastructure Engineer, Project Engineer, Implementation Engineer, or 3rd Line Support Engineer looking for their next challenge in the fast-paced world of professional sport.
Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Management: Maintain and optimize on-premises and cloud infrastructure, including servers, storage and network.
  • Network Administration: Monitor and maintain the club’s network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, redundancy, and performance across multiple venues (stadium, training ground, offices).
  • Support Matchday Operations: Provide on-site IT support for matchdays.
  • Escalation Support: Provide 3rd line support and escalation services for their service desk.
  • Project Implementation: Lead or assist in the planning and execution of IT projects and stadium technology upgrades.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain up-to-date documentation of systems, configurations, and processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • As a member of staff to ensure in all matters, you follow and actively promote the club’s mental health policies and practices to ensure an open, non-judgmental and inclusive environment for everyone engaged with the club.
  • As a member of staff to ensure that you to adhere to the club’s safeguarding policies and procedures and are committed to their safeguarding values, creating a safe and positive environment for all those who interact with the club.

    Skills and Qualifications
    Technical Expertise:
  • Strong understanding of network protocols and experience in configuring and administering LAN, Wi-Fi and WAN deployments with demonstrable experience of HPE Aruba networking. Experience in administering ClearPass would be advantageous.
  • Hands on experience of Firewall management and administration. Experience with FortiGate would be preferred.
  • You should be highly proficient in managing Microsoft infrastructure components including Windows Server, Office365 and Entra administration.
  • Solid understanding of Hyper-V, HPE server hardware and storage.
  • Good understanding of MacOS, iOS devices.
  • Familiar with ITIL framework and service management best practices.
    Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years in a technical IT engineer role such as a 3rd line engineer or project engineer.
  • Experience in a service orientated role.
  • Relevant industry certifications required.
    Personal Attributes:
  • Clear communication skills both in person and over the phone.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a team orientated approach and an obsession with service.
  • As this role will be based mainly at their training ground, you need to be comfortable working in a high-pressured environment, managing multiple priorities and a very dynamic workload.
