Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers.
  • Manage a portfolio of related projects within a business stream, meeting customer requirements while achieving key business objectives, including schedule, budget, risk management, and securing follow-on business.
  • Oversee project performance by tracking progress against plans, budgets, and schedules, identifying issues, and implementing corrective actions through regular cost, schedule, performance, and risk assessments.
  • Allocate and secure necessary resources, including personnel, facilities, and tools, to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide accurate and timely cost and schedule data to support bids and reporting requirements.
  • Lead customer interactions, manage interfaces, and maintain effective communication with senior management, team members, and peers to ensure a unified understanding of project scope and objectives.
  • Inspire and guide the project team by sharing a clear vision, setting objectives, and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages alignment toward common goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Programmes Director or Programme Manager to support departmental initiatives.
  • Demonstrate experience in new product development and implementation.


Project Manager Attributes:

  • Expertise in managing projects across their lifecycle, from concept to delivery and in-service support.
  • Degree in Business or Engineering.
  • APM certification (or equivalent).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and influencing abilities across all organisational levels.
  • High commercial acumen, customer-oriented mindset, and focus on driving sales.
  • Resilient under pressure, maintaining sound judgment and delivering results within challenging constraints.
  • Proficient in using project management tools and experienced with ERP systems such as IFS.
  • Skilled in managing multidisciplinary projects, particularly in systems engineering, integration, or manufacturing contexts.
  • Experience within the Maritime or Defence industries is an advantage.
