Our client, an innovative organisation in the aerospace sector, is seeking a hands-on Avionics Technician to support the manufacture, assembly, testing and installation of avionics systems for unmanned aircraft. This permanent role will involve working within an electronics assembly environment, supporting production, aircraft commissioning and UK-based flight operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing avionics components, sub-assemblies and cable assemblies in line with build packs, engineering drawings and production schedules
Testing and qualifying avionics systems and items in accordance with standard operating procedures
Repairing and carrying out basic rework on failed incoming items, including functional testing to return them to service
Installing avionics onto aircraft and assisting with aircraft-level system acceptance testing
Providing on-site support during the installation and flight testing of new systems within the UK
Providing feedback on manufacturing processes, assembly challenges and improvements to the Manufacturing and Engineering Teams
Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workspace, while monitoring and replenishing consumable stock
Working in accordance with health and safety requirements, company procedures, engineering standards and organisational values
Job Requirements:
Technical capability with strong logical reasoning and a practical, methodical approach
Experience in electronics manufacturing, hand soldering and general PCBA production
Understanding of basic cable assembly, including power systems, high-integrity signals and RF applications
Experience with box builds and standard electronics test equipment, such as digital multimeters, power supplies and DC loads
Ability to interpret and provide feedback on engineering drawings, manufacturing packs and technical specifications
General workshop and light machining experience, alongside good computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office software
Ability to adapt, learn new skills, communicate effectively and move between tasks within a small production team
UAV or aerospace industry knowledge, MCAD and ECAD experience, IPC qualifications such as IPC-J-STD-001 or IPC-WHMA-620-A, and relevant industry experience would be advantageous
Additional Requirements:
Eligibility to work in the UK
Ability to travel to EU and non-EU territories when required
Willingness to complete vetting and security clearance where required by the role, location or client
Comfort working in both bench-based and standing environments, with occasional travel to support flight operations
