Sitting within the Windracers Regulations Team, this role is responsible for the Development of Airspace Change requests, Operational Safety Cases, SORA and other regulatory submissions on behalf of Windracers. The key function of this role is to ensure the continued regulatory compliance of Windracers and to enable future VLOS and BVLOS operations within a variety of regulatory environments for a range of use-cases.

This is a Junior Regulatory Role that would suit a graduate or other aviation professional looking to move into the regulatory side of the Uncrewed Aviation industry.

Key Measures & Deliverables

  • Delivery of regulatory Approvals.
  • Maintenance of ongoing Operational Authorisations.
  • Development and delivery of bespoke airspace applications.

Responsibilities/Tasks

  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with local, regional, an international regulations, guidelines and standards related to cargo drone operations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Stay current with local, regional & international civil & military regulations & standards related to Open & Specific category drone operations.
  • Engage with Aviation Stakeholders to develop methods of operation to minimize operational disruption to other airspace users.
  • Produce regulatory applications and documentation to support operations.
  • Keep track and monitor the processing of regulatory applications.
  • Advise the engineering team on standard requirements from the aviation authorities and collaborate to integrate new technology in commercial operations.
  • Work with other industries and stakeholders on the future of regulatory standards and support the proposal of new regulations.
  • Coordinate with the flight operations team to plan for future operations.
  • Work at all times in accordance with company values, policies, procedures and guidelines ·

Skills/Knowledge

  • Strong interest in aviation technologies.
  • Familiarity with drone technology, operations, and the current regulatory landscape.
  • Confident in risks assessment and safety management, and the ability to apply them to drone operations. ·
  • Strong understanding of ATM procedures & practices and airspace constructs. ·
  • Strong analytical and innovative thinking, be able to formulate innovative solutions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities. ·
  • Ability to present complex concepts to a varied audience. ·
  • Team player with a professional attitude. ·
  • Full driving licence

Preferred Skills and/or Knowledge

  • Experience in obtaining permits, licences, and certifications for aviation operations, preferably in the drone sector.
  • Knowledge of local and international regulatory frameworks such as CAP722, CAP1616, and SORA framework and EASA regulations.
  • Previous experience in working with Operating Safety Cases & SORA.
  • Understanding of airspace change processes and airspace regulations.
  • Basic understanding of Air Traffic Management.
  • Basic knowledge of communications, navigation, and surveillance (CNS) systems.

Qualification Requirements

  • Degree-level or experience to match within aviation, regulatory or safety orientated industry
  • Right to work within the UK
  • Ability to travel abroad to EU and non-EU territories
  • Vetting and security clearance (as required by role, location or client)
