Purpose of the Role

The Outbound Sales Account Manager plays a key role in driving business growth across the Construction, Utilities, and Green Skills sectors by generating new client relationships, nurturing existing accounts, and positioning training services as the provider of choice for accredited and funded skills solutions.

The role focuses on proactively identifying opportunities and building trust with clients, learners, and strategic partners—converting leads into long-term relationships to support the wider mission of upskilling the UK workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively source and engage new B2B/B2C learners through calls, emails, LinkedIn, networking, and face-to-face meetings

  • Promote a portfolio of accredited training programmes, including NVQs, compliance courses, bootcamps, and green skills (PAS 2035/38-aligned)

  • Develop tailored proposals and present solutions that meet the skills needs of clients in construction, utilities, housing, and renewable energy

  • Identify and secure opportunities for funded provision (e.g. Skills Bootcamps, Adult Education Budget, WHSP)

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of key employer accounts

  • Act as the main point of contact to ensure smooth onboarding, repeat business, and excellent customer satisfaction

  • Collaborate with internal teams (operations, marketing, delivery) to ensure client expectations are met

  • Stay informed on industry trends, government funding updates, and emerging training needs related to the green economy

  • Use market insights to refine outreach strategies and product positioning

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records within CRM systems

  • Provide sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and performance updates to management

    Key Skills & Experience

    Essential:

  • Proven success in outbound B2B sales (ideally within training, apprenticeships, or employability services)

  • Strong knowledge of the construction, utilities, or green skills sectors

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills

  • Able to build rapport quickly and manage long sales cycles

  • Comfortable working towards targets and KPIs

  • Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools

    Desirable:

  • Experience working across both B2B and B2C audiences, including housing associations, commercial organisations, or energy providers

  • Understanding of funded training programmes (e.g. Bootcamps, Retrofit, Net Zero)

  • Experience with public sector procurement or bidding processes

    What Success Looks Like

  • Achieving or surpassing monthly and quarterly sales targets

  • Expanding employer partnerships and client base

  • Maintaining strong client satisfaction and retention

  • Driving uptake in green skills and retrofit-related training programmes
