We're committed to driving our productivity, delivering continuous improvement and being the best at all we bake, so we have another new opportunity for a Manufacturing Excellence Project Manager to join our Manufacturing Excellence team.

The Manufacturing Excellence team are based out of Bolton in the North West but we have sites located across the UK, so we're not fixed on a location, as long as you're prepared to travel. The Recipe Working alongside the Manufacturing Excellence Director and within our Manufacturing Excellence team, you'll be building relationships across the business with a wide range of stakeholders, colleagues and external suppliers.

Taking the lead on Manufacturing Excellence projects across our national site network, you'll be working with our Site Teams, Safety, Quality, Compliance and  Central and Ops Engineering teams to identify and deliver productivity projects within our existing bakeries.

In previous roles you'll have managed large CAPEX budgets and provided manufacturing leadership, implementation of solutions and project management skills. You’ll be using your knowledge of purchasing and supplier negotiation skills for new plant machinery and upgrades to existing production lines, whilst managing our supplier contracts and agreements effectively.

We never compromise on Health & Safety or Quality, and you'll champion our Health and Safety strategy, PUWER, legislation and company standards in all project work and identify and instigate Food Safety and energy usage improvements within your area of responsibility.

Essential Ingredients 
Extensive Project Management experience of identifying, presenting and delivering capital based activities.
Hands-on operational experience, ideally within a multi-site manufacturing, distribution or fast-moving consumer goods environment.
Provide accurate and concise plans with milestones and target dates – critical path planning.
Be influential, articulate and persuasive, a relationship builder- establishing credibility with both internal and external contacts at all levels.
Awareness of latest technology and engineering techniques applicable to drive efficiency improvements and ensure best practise.
We work in a 24/7 fast paced environment therefore we will need you to be flexible in your approach and fully mobile across the UK.

Areas of project responsibility defined by Manufacturing Excellence Director are delivered OTIF – Customer requirements, budget & timeline 
Health & Safety and Compliance activities are prioritised and managed effectively 
Lead negotiations and purchase of items of plant and machinery for major projects in those areas agreed with the Manufacturing Excellence Director. All items purchased through SAP and ensuring Supply Agreements are in place. 
To ensure effective communication exists between site staff, MEX Team and project team. 
Provide Site reports, Gant charts with milestones and target dates with regular project reports in line with master project plan 
To attend appropriate seminars, suppliers meetings and conduct external visits to ensure awareness of Technology improvements and apply to projects as applicable to drive efficiency improvements and ensure Best Practice. 
To identify and instigate energy, productivity and safety improvements within own area of responsibility. 
To provide support to the bakery teams with advice and expertise when required.
